Young Tigers on the Rise

Continuing the tradition of young Tigers going on to higher levels its pleasing to report that this season is no different with players representing the club at under age state level and through the Cricket Victoria Pathways system.

The Bushrangers State Championships is split into under 14-16 and 18, and sees a number of young Tigers representing various regions this January.

For State Championships the players are chosen in the region in which they reside, not the region that the Monash Tigers is a member of - being the Inner South East Scorpions, a region we share with Prahran and Hawthorn Monash University cricket clubs.

Representing our “home” region the ISE Scorpions are Lachlan McCrae, Vernon Mittal and Dean Krelle at U18 level with Shannon Young our RCC High Performance Coach as the U18 Team Coach, we then have Thavessh Attanayake at U16 level with Jack Harper as an Assistant coach for this team.

Representing the South East Breakers at U18 level are Will Agar and Lochie Brodie, with Luke Shimmen currently an emergency, then Jackson Waters representing the Outer East Eagles at U18.

The U16 competition runs from Jan 20 to 24, whilst the U18’s are a week earlier from Jan12 to 16.

Also in January from the 13th to the 23rd Wes Agar joins brother Ash as a Victorian under age representative when he heads to Adelaide to represent Victoria in the U17 National Championships.

Completing our under age representatives we have already had Sean Griffin represent Victoria in the Under 19 National Championships in Hobart in early December, picking up 2x3fa’s and a 55 with the bat.

All up a good haul for club as this young brigade represents the Tigers across all of the these junior championships.

At the completion of the Pathways program we get to work on the 2014 Tiger Talent Squad program, looking at the Pathways results, Hatch and VMCU carnivals to put together an initial list of approximately 50 juniors for the TTS winter program from where we continue to recruit our younger talent for season 2014/15 and beyond.

Current Tigers from the 2013 TTS are Luke Shimmen, Raymond Toole, Andrew Humphries and Lachlan McRae
